The Third-One Rule

Never remove more than one-third
of the grass blade at a time. For
example, if your grass grows to 3
inches, aim to mow at about 2
inches. This promotes healthy, deep
roots and helps fight off weeds.

Common Lawn Issues

& Solutions

dandelions

Weeds

Unwanted plants like dandelions and
crabgrass steal nutrients and weaken grass.
Regular mowing and herbicides prevent
spread.

Grass with brown Patches.

Brown or Yellow Patches

Caused by pet urine, fungus, or improper watering, leading to weak grass. Adjust watering and apply treatments to restore colour.

Dormat grass.

Thinning or Bare Spots

Heavy traffic and poor soil create thin patches and uneven growth. Overseeding and aeration promote thicker, healthier grass.

Lawn Pests

Grubs and chinch bugs damage roots,
causing dead patches. Pest control and
healthy soil prevent infestations.

Grasshopper on a leaf.

Compact Soil & Poor Drainage

Compacted soil blocks water and nutrients,
leading to weak growth. Aeration and
organic material improve drainage.

Rain dropping on grass

Moss & Fungus Growth

Excess moisture, shade, and acidic soil promote moss and fungus. Better drainage, sunlight, and pH balance prevent spread.
